Thank you to our volunteers
Yesterday about an hour before I left to start cooking for Thrive I realized my dog was missing. If you ask my husband or children who my favorite family member is, they will all, repeatedly say “Scotty the dog”. I LOVE him. I was shocked when he was not outside. He never leaves the yard without me. It was a cold drizzle of rain, and he is scared of storms, so I thought maybe he heard thunder in the distance. Despite my frantic, and widespread search, I could not find him.
The drive to church gave me time to be still and pray. As we neared town, my prayers shifted from “God help my dog be ok” to “God, help me serve you tonight despite what is going on at home.” As I started working, each teacher and person who came through the doors God used to prompt my heart saying “What did they leave behind to be here?” I was soon overwhelmed with gratitude for such an amazing team of volunteers who show up week after week to make Thrive happen.
Thank you for your service. Thank you for your sacrifices. Thank you for choosing to share the Gospel and give of your time and energy.
Jefferey texted me last night as Macy and Sam and I were finishing the meal prep saying Scotty was found. I was beyond relieved. Know that today, I am praying for you to have that relief of whatever you are carrying. I appreciate each of you, and I am so thankful to be in a place that values our next generation like we do.
Matthew 26:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Our goal here at First Christian Church is to help students know they are seen, loved and valued. Thank you for going into the mission filed of our church building to do just that.
With love, Ryan
